Ingenix’s Disease Precursor Identification Software Selected as “Runner-Up” in Health Care IT Category for Tool’s Ability to Predict and Help Prevent Disease

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ingenix’s groundbreaking Disease Precursor Identification software was recognized by The Wall Street Journal in the publication’s prestigious 10th Annual Technology Innovation Awards. Ingenix was selected as a runner-up in the health care information technology category. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services won the award for its Connect software for exchanging electronic medical records.

For this award, The Wall Street Journal’s independent panel of judges looked for innovative uses of technology that break with conventional ideas to help solve real-world problems. The judges narrowed the nearly 600 applications submitted from around the globe to a final pool that included one winner and two runners-up in the health care IT category. Ingenix’s Disease Precursor Identification software, now marketed as Ingenix HealthImpact, helps prevent serious, costly and difficult-to-manage diseases – like cancer and diabetes – by identifying underlying risk factors before the illness begins to develop or progress. By analyzing historical, de-identified medical data, the Disease Precursor Identification tool pinpoints the precursors to disease with high accuracy, enabling early, sometimes life-saving intervention.

“We are honored that Disease Precursor Identification technology has been recognized by The Wall Street Journal as a breakthrough in health care IT,” said Tina Brown-Stevenson, executive vice president at Ingenix. “Using sophisticated applications of health information, Ingenix strives to help health care professionals not just treat disease, but actually be able to prevent it.”
