NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Asian Enterprise magazine has named UnitedHealthcare “Corporate Advocate of the Year” and one of “Fortune 500’s Best Companies for Asian Pacific Americans and Islanders” for its commitment to serving seniors’ health care needs through its SecureHorizons Medicare plans.

Also, UnitedHealthcare’s Asian Initiatives National Vice President Christopher Law received the magazine’s “Small Business Advocate of the Year Award.”

UnitedHealthcare and Law were recognized for their “unwavering and continued commitment to the small business community along with (their) invaluable contribution to the Asian Pacific American and Islander (APAI) community,” said Willy Borromeo, publisher of Asian Enterprise.

Asian Enterprise is a monthly publication distributed to the Asian Pacific American business community. This year marks the magazine’s 17th year of its annual awards program honoring Asian entrepreneurs in the United States and best companies for Asian Pacific Americans. The awards will be presented Sept. 10 at a banquet in Los Angeles.

“We are honored to receive these recognitions for the work we have done to provide innovative new programs specifically designed to enhance the health and well-being of the Asian Pacific and Islander communities,” said Greg Wright, West region president of UnitedHealthcare’s SecureHorizons Medicare plans.

“These awards are a testament of our commitment at UnitedHealthcare’s Asian Initiatives to help improve Asian Americans’ health and quality of life. I am humbled and honored to be recognized by Asian Enterprise magazine,” said Law.

UnitedHealthcare’s Asian Initiatives, established in 1994, was one of the first health plans to provide culturally relevant health care services to the Asian-American community in New York City’s Chinatown area. Since then, UnitedHealthcare has opened offices serving Korean-American, Pakistani-American and Indian-American communities.

In 2009, UnitedHealthcare opened the SecureHorizons Medicare Resource Center in Alhambra, Calif., to serve as a trusted, one-stop source for culturally and linguistically sensitive health care information and services for Chinese-Americans in the community. SecureHorizons from UnitedHealthcare offers Medicare Advantage health benefit plans for people who qualify for Medicare Parts A and B, as well as Medicare supplement insurance plans.
