To repeal Affordable Care Act, lawmakers need to get insurers on board

If lawmakers want to repeal the Affordable Care Act, their main challenge is piquing the interests of health insurers who seem to have mastered the healthcare reform law, reported Forbes. Take UnitedHealth Group. The insurer posted first quarter earnings of $36 billion--13 percent more than first quarter of 2014. Additionally, the stock jumped 3.6 percent on the news. Insurers also are keeping medical claims under control while, in turn, giving rebates to consumers if they make too much money, causing them to decrease overhead and profits. To get insurers on board with overhauling the ACA, lawmakers would need to convince them that the potential reward is higher than the risks. Article
