SCAN Health Plan Selects Cathy Batteer as President of Northern California and State Contracts

LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Healthcare executive Cathy Batteer has been named president of SCAN Health Plan Northern California and State Contracts, effective immediately. Batteer’s appointment marks her return to SCAN after previously serving as senior vice president of network management for the company from 2001 to 2005.

“Cathy brings extensive experience in Medicare product management, provider contracting, operations and strategic planning to this important role,” said Chris Wing, president and chief executive officer of SCAN Health Plan. “This strong background, coupled with her understanding of the SCAN mission and vision, will be a great asset to SCAN as we continue our efforts to grow our membership in Northern California and work with our contracted physician groups and hospitals throughout the state to provide an affordable, high-quality product to our membership.”

In Northern California, SCAN Health Plan currently provides benefits to seniors and others on Medicare in Contra Costa, San Francisco, Santa Clara and San Joaquin counties.

Batteer has worked for more than 25 years in the healthcare industry. For the past six years she served as vice president of Medicare for UPMC Health Plan in Pittsburgh, a subsidiary of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a nationally recognized integrated healthcare delivery system. In addition to her previous position at SCAN, Batteer has served as vice president of health services and provider delivery for PacifiCare of California. She holds a Master of Public Administration in Health Care Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in health planning and administration from Pennsylvania State University.
