Passport Health Plan Expands Use of McKesson’s Network Performance Management Solutions

Top Medicaid Managed Care Plan Looks to Reduce Administrative Costs While Optimizing Provider Enrollment, Contracting and Credentialing Processes

NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Passport Health Plan, a provider-sponsored Medicaid managed care plan serving approximately 170,000 members in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, has selected McKesson’s Integrated Provider Management (IPM) platform (formerly from Portico Systems) to create a single integrated solution for managing its provider enrollment, contracting and credentialing processes. The plan currently uses Provider Contracting from McKesson/Portico; this agreement adds the Provider Information Management and Credentialing components of the IPM platform, which simplifies the design, maintenance, reimbursement and performance management of provider networks to reduce medical, administrative and IT costs.

“McKesson’s contracting solution has helped us achieve administrative cost savings, more easily adhere to contract standards, and reduce claims leakage and inappropriate payments,” explained Tim Doss, vice president of Operations at Passport. “Provider Information Management will enable Passport to establish an enterprise-level provider ‘source of truth’ with a 360-degree view of our provider networks, eliminating duplicate manual updates to multiple systems and automating the ongoing maintenance of provider information. The Credentialing solution, in turn, will help us reduce credentialing and re-credentialing costs and network liability through greater automation. Ultimately, we’ll achieve greater visibility into network operations and accommodate faster network growth through heightened process efficiency.”

“Passport is well known for the excellence and commitment of its provider network in servicing the Medicaid community. The plan clearly understands the power of accurate information and the importance of efficiency in obtaining it,” said Ned Moore, vice president, Network Performance Management, McKesson Health Solutions. “Our solutions continue to play a key role in helping Passport reduce the administrative burden on providers while simultaneously achieving significant administrative cost savings through streamlined processes.”
