NAIC calls for multi-state examination of Anthem following hack

After hackers broke into health insurer Anthem's database, obtaining the personal information of about 80 million consumers last week, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) announced that regulators will work with the insurer and its affiliates to review the company's security system, placing an emphasis on protecting consumers covered through Anthem. NAIC believes that all 56 U.S. states and territories will agree to the examinations. States that have significant Anthem business include Indiana, California, Missouri, Maine and New Hampshire.
