IPG Expands a Nationwide Agreement with Aetna to Be Its Designated Implantable Device Benefit Management Provider

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IPG and Aetna (NYSE: AET) are pleased to announce the expansion of their Implantable Device Benefit Management (DBM) program into North Carolina and South Carolina.

The DBM program is part of a national agreement that will include a state-by-state rollout to all Aetna markets. It has been working successfully with a group of ambulatory surgery centers in Georgia and Florida.

IPG will handle device coordination, billing, replacement, tracking, and other services on a nationwide basis for Aetna-contracted surgical providers who elect to participate in the program.

“Implantable devices represent a significant expense for our members,” said Jarvis Leigh, Aetna’s vice president of network development in the Carolinas. “Our agreement with IPG has been successful in Georgia and Florida, and we’re pleased that it’s being extended to benefit our members in the Carolinas.”

Aetna provides health benefits to approximately 500,000 members in North and South Carolina.

“As the implantable device market continues to grow, IPG is committed to providing valuable solutions that address rising health care costs,” said Jay Ethridge, president and CEO for IPG. “We’re excited to grow our relationship with Aetna, and to continue to deliver value to its members in more markets.”
