Indianapolis' First Downtown Multi-Employer Health & Wellness Center Opens

On-site clinics offer employers immediate savings of 10 to 30 percent in their total healthcare spend; provides employees easy access to no cost care

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Indianapolis' first multi-employer Health & Wellness Center has opened. Novia on Penn, which is available to employees of Harrison College, McFarling Foods, Plews Shadley Racher & Braun and Novia CareClinics, provides acute and primary medical care services, generic medications and lab work, all at no cost to clinic patients.

"Struggling with skyrocketing health care costs, more employers are turning to an on-site clinic model," said Todd Foushee, Chief Operating Officer of Novia CareClinics, which will be both a participant in and manager of the clinic, as it does for 48 on-site centers around the state. "The employer-sponsored clinic model has shown to proactively identify health issues, reduce downtime and deliver cost savings to employers."

Structured to serve nearly 1,000 employees plus their dependents, Novia on Penn is located at 429 N. Pennsylvania St. As an employer-sponsored clinic, the cost of medical services is paid by the employers (Harrison College, McFarling Foods, Plews Shadley Racher & Braun and Novia CareClinics) to improve healthy lifestyles and empower employees to work with their health care team to reduce health risks and lower health care costs over the long-term.

Working with Indianapolis-based benefits brokers Apex Benefits and The Scott Group, the four participating companies had been looking for ways to save money on escalating health care costs for employees and their families, while still providing exceptional medical and wellness services. The clinic helps lessen the financial cost while providing the resource for employees to manage their health.

As part of Novia CareClinics' innovative approach to health care, Novia on Penn provides 20- and 40-minute appointments with doctors to help build relationships that lead to improved care. Added benefits include convenience of care, online appointment scheduling, health coaching, a 24-hour nurse hotline, health risk assessments, biometric screenings and electronic health records.

"Group health trend has averaged 10 percent for the past several years, making it increasingly difficult for employers to maintain affordable compensation packages for employees," said John Gause of Apex Benefits Group. "On-site clinics offer a broad range of services with no deductibles or copays for the employees.  It also allows progressive employers to take a proactive approach to making health and wellness a part of their culture. It is a tremendous step in the right direction in reducing overall health costs. We are excited about the launch of Novia on Penn and are looking forward to seeing the impact to our clients."

Based in Indianapolis, Novia CareClinics, LLC will have nearly 50 center locations by year-end, servicing approximately 90 different employers located throughout Indiana and five other states. Novia focuses on delivering advanced health and wellness to employees and dependents.
