Humana considering sale of Concentra

Humana is considering selling Concentra, its provider subsidiary that is valued at about $1 billion, three people familiar with the matter told Reuters. They spoke to the newswire anonymously, saying that Humana hired investment bank Goldman Sachs Group for advice on the sale process. When Humana bought the privately held healthcare provider for $790 million in 2010, the insurer acquired more than 300 medical centers in 42 states where Concentra delivers occupational medicine, urgent care, physical therapy and wellness services to workers. The deal was one of the first big moves to merge payers and providers so they can work closer together amid the Affordable Care Act's industry changes. So if Humana does sell Concentra less than four years later, it could indicate that the insurer is facing too many challenges in operating health centers, Reuters noted. Article
