Company already hiring and hopes to have all positions filled by end of September

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Humana (NYSE: HUM), Florida’s largest Medicare health plan contractor, today announced plans to add another 200 positions to its fulltime workforce at its national Medicare service operations center in Tampa.

The new call center positions, which include customer care specialists and frontline supervisors, will increase Humana’s Tampa Bay workforce to about 2,400 employees by the end of September, including some 1,300 fulltime positions at Humana’s national Medicare operations and telesales call centers in East Tampa.

Humana’s Medicare operations center, which supports Humana Medicare benefit plans and senior products nationwide, is located in Tampa at NetPark, 5701 E Hillsborough Ave. More than 500 employees who handle calls, claims and written inquiries from Humana Medicare members and providers around the country support the Tampa operations center.

Humana’s Cathy Magbee, director-Medicare Service Operations, said the company is currently recruiting candidates for the 200 positions in Tampa and hopes to have all positions filled by the end of September in order to have training complete before the 2012 Medicare open enrollment period, which begins Oct. 15, 2011, and runs through Dec. 7 of this year.

“We continue to see opportunities to grow our Medicare business, and the expansion at our Tampa operations center ensures our Medicare members and providers will continue to receive superior customer service,” said Humana Central Florida Senior Products Market President Dr. Scott Latimer.
