HMS Awarded Recovery Audit Contractor Contract by the State of Oregon

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- HMS, a wholly owned subsidiary of HMS Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ:HMSY), announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the State of Oregon, Department of Human Services, Office of Payment Accuracy and Recovery (OPAR), to serve as the State’s Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) and provide third party liability (TPL) come-behind services.

Under the terms of this contract, HMS will perform services outlined in the RAC portion of the Affordable Care Act, including identifying and recovering improper Medicaid underpayments and overpayments, and detecting Medicaid overpayments arising from provider fraud and abuse. HMS will also review claims subject to TPL requirements to ensure Medicaid remains the payor of last resort.

The contract extends through September 14, 2014, with the option to renew for additional years, as long as the contract period does not exceed five years.

“HMS is excited to bring our comprehensive RAC and TPL solutions to Oregon and to forge a new relationship with the State,” said Maria Perrin, HMS Executive Vice President for Government Services. “We look forward to helping OPAR comply with Federal mandates and maintain the integrity of Oregon’s Medicaid program.”

This contract represents HMS’s first engagement with OPAR in Oregon.
