Highmark, UPMC continue to butt heads

There are lingering troubles in the ongoing battle between Highmark and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, reports the Daily News. Last week, Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane and Insurance Commissioner Michael Consedine told Highmark in a letter that they would seek enforcement in court because the insurer is not complying with the deal it struck with UPMC this past summer. Then, in a separate letter, the state officials discouraged UPMC from suing Highmark, saying it would only prolong the fight and could hurt customer relations.
