Highmark concedes in maternity care dispute

New Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolff has brokered a deal between Highmark Blue Cross, the state's largest insurer, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Magee-Womens Hospital over a continuity of care dispute. UPMC, the region's largest provider system, voiced concerns about Highmarks' incentivizing patients to seek care with the smaller Allegheny Health Network. Highmark, accepting Wolff's resolution, agreed to cover women who became pregnant and sought care in 2014 with UPMC. "The needs of patients must always come first and I am pleased that we have reached a swift and necessary resolution in this matter," Wolff said in a media release. Article
