Health Net Federal Services Selected by Department of Defense as Partner in Military Spouse Employment Partnership

Health Net Federal Services

, a wholly-owned subsidiary of . (NYSE:HNT), today announced its selection by the U.S. Department of Defense as a partner in the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), a program designed to support the educational and career goals of military spouses.

“The opportunity to partner with the MSEP, which supports military spouses in reaching their educational and career goals, reflects Health Net Federal Services’ commitment to military spouses,” said Thomas Carrato, president, Health Net Federal Services. “The program complements our partnership with the White House initiative, Joining Forces, and the launch of our own Veteran and Military Spouse Employment Initiative, a comprehensive and progressive plan to recruit, hire, train and retain Veterans and military spouses in the Health Net workforce.”

The MSEP is a targeted program, connecting American businesses with military spouses who possess skills and attributes for the 21st century workforce and seek portable, fulfilling careers. In addition to working to reduce the unemployment rate of military spouses, the partnership works to reduce the compensation gap between military spouses and their civilian counterparts, and to raise awareness of military spouses’ leadership skills, strong work ethics and team-oriented values. Since MSEP’s launch in June 2011, more than 815,700 employer partner jobs have been posted to the Web portal and more than 32,300 military spouses have been hired.

As a MSEP partner, Health Net Federal Services will contribute to the evolution of the MSEP program, enhancing strategic organization and use of the Web portal for job postings and reporting of spouse hires and transfers. To date, 161 employers have been selected to partner with the MSEP to create a global network of employment opportunities and resources for military spouses.
