GOP senators call for final ACA enrollment numbers

Republican Senators John Barrasso (Wyo.) and Lamar Alexander (Tenn.) wrote to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Marilyn Tavenner Wednesday to request an update on how many people have enrolled in plans since implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Barrasso and Alexander stress the importance of knowing this total number prior to the second enrollment period, set to begin on Nov. 15. Back in May, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service reported a last-minute surge of enrollees, which may have altered the total number of people who purchased coverage. Letter (.pdf)
