Feds ban health insurers that have blanket exclusions on gender transition care

By 2016, federal employees' health insurers will no longer be allowed to have blanket exclusions for transgender-specific healthcare services such as hormone therapy and gender transition care, Vox reports. The Office of Personnel Management announced the policy Tuesday, a year after the government stopped banning insurers' ability to cover transgender-inclusive care. Advocates for the transgender community, however, expect that insurance companies will still try to avoid providing a full range of transgender services. Article
