Ex-Amerigroup CEO James Carlson leaves WellPoint

Only three days after WellPoint picked career hospital exec Joseph Swedish to lead the company, former CEO of Amerigroup James Carlson said he's leaving WellPoint, Bloomberg reported. Carlson joined WellPoint when it bought Amerigroup for $4.9 billion last December and headed up its Medicaid division. He was widely considered one of the frontrunners for the WellPoint CEO position after Angela Bray resigned amid stockholder concerns. "After helping close the Amerigroup transaction and assisting over the past six weeks with the integration of the two companies, Jim Carlson will be leaving WellPoint effective Feb. 28," WellPoint said in a statement to Bloomberg. "We wish Jim well, and thank him for his many contributions." Article
