Delaware Physicians Care, an Aetna Medicaid plan, has been selected as one of the top 50 Medicaid plans among hundreds in the nation by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) in its Medicaid Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2013-2014. The ranking is based on clinical quality, member satisfaction and NCQA accreditation scores.

Delaware Physicians Care ranked 34. NCQA evaluated more than 260 Medicaid health plans and ranked 131 of those based on clinical performance, member satisfaction and NCQA accreditation. To be eligible for rankings, health plans must authorize public release of their performance information and submit enough data for a statistically valid analysis.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) is the most widely used performance measurement and tool in health care.

Delaware Physicians Care has more than 116,000 Medicaid and long-term care members.

“We’re very proud to have been ranked so highly, and we will continue to work to do even better,” said Robert White, chief executive officer of the health plan. “The list is based both on the quality of care and how satisfied our members are with the services they receive. Of course, that also is a statement about our excellent staff and participating providers, as well as how dedicated they all are to making sure our members stay as healthy as possible.”

Delaware Physicians Care is administered by Aetna Medicaid, which has more than 25 years’ experience in managed Medicaid and administers physical and behavioral health care to fully managed care members in 16 states, helping more than 2 million people access quality health services.
