Delaware drops Medcaid coverage, job losses likely

Delaware's department of Health and Social Services will stop offering Medicaid coverage through Delaware Physicians Care, an Aetna health plan, reports The News Journal. Currently, nearly 137,000 Medicaid patients are enrolled in an Aetna Delaware Physicians Care plan, which means those consumers will need to choose a new plan--one from either Highmark or UnitedHealthcare. "We'll be identifying those populations that perhaps have the greatest risk or transition needs," Stephen Groff, director of the state's Medicaid program, said. As a result of the drop in coverage, nearly 200 Delaware-based healthcare jobs will cease to exist at the end of the year. Article
