CIGNA “Top Rated” Health Plan in North Carolina, According to National Committee for Quality Assurance Health Insurance Pl

BLOOMFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CIGNA HealthCare of North Carolina has been ranked as the “top rated” health plan in North Carolina, according to NCQA's Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-2011 - Private.

The rankings are based on the NCQA's measurement of a health plan's performance in three categories: improving health care quality, providing responsive customer service and achieving high scores on NCQA accreditation surveys.

The rankings of HMO and Point of Service plans are based on the voluntary submission of health care quality results as measured through HEDIS® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) and customer service scores based on member surveys through CAHPS® (Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Systems).
