Cigna cites higher consolidated revenues in Q3 earnings

Cigna reported consolidated revenues of $9.4 billion in its third-quarter earnings report, an increase of 7 percent compared to the same quarter last year. The health insurer had an adjusted income from operations of $593 million, or $2.28 per share in Q3, which is up from the $548 million, or $2.06 per share, it reported in 2014.

Cigna attributes its projected revenue growth in 2016 to overall customer growth, increased operating expense efficiencies and margin improvement in its Medicare Advantage business, though it notes some likey offset due to an expected reduction in individual and Medicare Part D customers as well as foreign exchange pressure in its Global Supplemental Benefits business.
