Blue Shield of California informed members in a recent letter that a software update may have led to a protected health information (PHI) exposure. Between May 9 and May 18, a computer code update advertantly allowed three different users who logged into their accounts at the exact same time as another user to view one another's personal information. In the letter, Blue Shield notes that the code was fixed within one day of the insurer becoming aware of the problem, but did not indicate how many individuals were affected. Letter
