Biologics, an integrated oncology services company, is pleased to announce that its Patient Access Services team has secured over $15.1 million in copay assistance for patients to date, with $3.9 million secured in third quarter, 2013.

As therapies become more targeted towards specific diagnoses or tumor types, copays are becoming more expensive for patients. The average copay amount for Biologics’ Oncology Pharmacy patients totaled $288 in third quarter.

While helping secure copay and other financial assistance needs, Biologics’ Patient Access Services team performs thorough benefits investigation reviews, manages prior authorizations and works with the Care Integration program in assisting with clinical trial enrollment when appropriate.

The team also works to help patients maintain their quality of life throughout therapy – helping secure laptops for patients receiving treatment away from home, and helping families secure financial assistance for travel costs between treatments.

“Our team understands the clinical, financial and emotional needs of patients who are referred to us,” says Amanda Coakley, Patient Support Services Manager at Biologics. “It is extremely important that we work proactively with our patients to identify and avoid financial barriers; ensuring patients can access, afford and manage their therapy is of the utmost importance to our team.”
