Anthem, Cigna await California's decision on merger

The California Insurance Commission is expected to issue a decision soon on the proposed merger between Anthem and Cigna after holding a public hearing on the deal last month, Healthcare Finance reports. Commissioner Dave Jones will provide a copy of his final decision for federal regulators to review. Jones approved Centene's merger with Health Net in March, paving the way for the deal to be finalized.

In order for California to approve the merger, the two insurance giants need to show that the merger is in the best interest of the consumers and the healthcare marketplace. Article
