Washington, DC – Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care President Alan G. Rosenbloom will be joined by Avalere Health CEO Dan Mendelson and Avalere Health Director Emil Parker at on Monday, November 7, at 11:00 am ET to release and comment on a new and unique national survey of over 2,900 nursing homes asking how a new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rule in effect since October 1 is impacting facilities, their operations, and their workforce.
The CMS rule, which reduced Medicare funding by $79 billion over 10 years, according to an earlier released Avalere study, made substantial changes in payment methodology for therapy services. The new Avalere survey to be released on Monday, the first major national prospective assessment of Skilled Nursing Facilities shows that operators are deeply concerned about the future and anticipate significant instability and job loss if the rule is not phased in over time.
The survey itself and subsequent discussion about the rule's impact on providers, patients and local job losses will be the focal point of discussion, as will the Alliance's assessment of how to help address the worsening situation at the state level.
