Verizon-WellPoint partnership enables virtual chats between patients, nurses

Verizon Wireless and WellPoint this week announced a partnership that will allow members affiliated with the insurance plan to virtually chat with nurse care managers via a 4G LTE mobile device. The hope is that patients will become more involved in their own healthcare, according to Verizon Wireless officials. "By leveraging video, we hope to enhance engagement in healthcare management, improve the quality of services provided and help consumers stay on track with their programs," Michael Tighe, executive director of mHealth solutions for Verizon Wireless said in a statement.
