Report: 66 million wearables to ship each year by 2021

The wearables market is moving into a more sedate phase as developers delve deeper into design and product creation to roll out products on a commercial scale, according to a new Tractica report.

However, the report adds that interest and market momentum remains high. Tractica predicts that more than 66 million wearables will ship globally each year by 2021. The year 2015 saw 2.3 million shipments worldwide.

"In the past year, the enterprise and industrial wearables market has moved into an implementation phase, with the focus shifting from public announcements to the hard work that needs to be done behind the scenes to get wearables rolled out at commercial scale," according to research director Aditya Kaul.
