Fitbit not yet jumping on Apple HealthKit bandwagon

Fitbit is one of the few fitness tracking device makers that isn't busy integrating with Apple's new iOS 8 Health app and HealthKit platform, according to an article at 9To5Mac.

"We do not currently have plans to integrate with HealthKit … It is an interesting new platform and we will watch as it matures, looking for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience. At the moment, we're working on other exciting projects that we think will be valuable to users," states Fitbit in a member community forum, according to the article.

Apple, for its part, must be a bit taken back by the news as Fitbit was shown in a presentation regarding partner integration during the Apple event in September, notes 9To5Mac.

The news comes as HealthKit is steadily gaining support from a slew of device, app and healthcare tech partners, including Cerner and athenahealth as well as two university-related hospitals--Standford and Duke. Article
