Sutter Health acquires former radiology partner

Three years after terminating a contract with the largest radiological group in Sacramento, Sutter Health has decided to buy the business.

The Sutter Medical Foundation will become owner and operator of Radiological Association of Sacramento (RAS) effective Feb. 1, 2014. The transaction makes business sense, according to an article in the Sacramento Business Journal.

Through the deal, Sutter regains access to the expertise of RAS physicians, whom they found difficult to replace after the 2010 split, the article notes. As for RAS, Sutter will provide a steady amount of business in a market where organizations like Kaiser Permanente, Digby Health and the University of California Davis Health System have their own radiology groups.
