Polyglot Systems, Inc. Launches Its Newest Version of AVA™

“New Software Speeds Health Insurance Enrollment for Low-Literate Applicants”

MORRISVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Polyglot Systems, Inc. has successfully deployed another piece of technology to expand healthcare access by overcoming communication barriers. The product is a web or software-as-a-service or “SaaS” version of the company’s AVA product, which dramatically improves the health insurance enrollment application process for Americans who have low-literacy or the limited ability to speak English.

“AVA overcomes these challenges through a simplified process which guides each applicant in their preferred language,” said Dr. Charles Lee, president/CEO of Polyglot Systems, Inc., and inventor of AVA.

The system uses a simple, step-by-step interface designed to guide applicants through the process while also providing on-screen and spoken prompts, requesting only information relevant to the application. The new, SaaS-based format allows the system to be used at any computer station with an internet connection, enabling 24-hour access.

The newest version of AVA has recently been deployed by the Alabama Primary Health Care Association (APHCA) at twenty locations. APHCA’s COO, Tom Tucker said, “AVA is the best system for enrolling patients in Medicaid that I have seen. We have been very happy with its performance and expect to provide an additional twenty locations by the end of May.”

Under the 2010 Affordable Care Act signed into law in March 2010, the congressional budget office estimates the new legislation will reduce the number of uninsured Americans by 32 million, with 16 million of those to be covered through an expansion of Medicaid. As states and health plans prepare for this expanded enrollment, the need for health insurance applications to become simpler, accessible, and more consumer-friendly will be in great demand.

According to Polyglot officials, the newly re-engineered version of AVA will directly address this upcoming demand. In addition, Federal incentives may subsidize up to 90% of states’ costs to implement the system.
