Passport Launches eCare® NEXT to Automate Patient Access Workflow

Intelligent revenue cycle platform delivers exception-based priority management system that eliminates clerical variation in access management processes

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Passport Health Communications Inc., the Patient Access Experts, has introduced eCare® NEXT, an intelligent revenue cycle platform that automates the typically inefficient and often incomplete patient and payer data verification workflow within hospitals. The software can be implemented at any point in the access management workflow (e.g., scheduling, pre-registration or admission).

Designed using Software as a Service (SaaS) technology, eCare® NEXT works behind the scenes to deliver an automated, exception-based priority workflow. This priority management system allows hospitals and providers to eliminate clerical variation, up to 80 percent of staff labor and 100 percent of the payment uncertainty surrounding most patient encounters. eCare® NEXT will be demonstrated in the Passport booth #3085 at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2011 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 20-24.

“eCare® NEXT is unique because it operates without human intervention and takes the variation out of the many financial, compliance and clinical data checkpoints in the ideal patient access process,” said Passport Chief Executive Officer Scott MacKenzie. “Without eCare® NEXT, hospital personnel may have to go through multiple websites that differ by payer to validate eligibility, pre-certification and medical necessity and often end up making multiple calls and keeping multiple paper records of the transactions. We can now automate all this work for them.” Our deep understanding of transaction data content and our ability to intelligently enrich and present the data provides the end user with a consistent experience unlike any other tools in the marketplace.

“Passport distinguishes itself from other healthcare software companies that can only deliver discrete sets of information through a transaction. Unlike a traditional clearinghouse, Passport is the only company that provides “high definition” transactions that deliver pin-point accuracy,” added MacKenzie. “We offer a different user experience; much like the difference in watching a high-definition television versus a traditional television.”

Passport’s entire Suite of Patient Access software solutions is delivered through eCare® NEXT as a single user interface to assure Payment Certainty for Every Patient™. New applications available for demonstration at HIMSS include:

  • OrderRite™ with Pre-Certification: Automates the pre-service compliance process. Results are quickly returned with documents ready for patient e-signature.
  • eCare® Claim Management Suite: Permits online claims submissions, audits claims for all payers and updates status in real time, assuring clean claims are submitted, edits and denials are worked in priority order, reimbursements are paid correctly and payments posted properly.
  • PatientSimple: Online Business Office combining patient account management, e-payment, eligibility, charity care, patient estimates and patient-friendly paper billing.
  • PatientGive: A medical billing fundraising tool empowering patients to set up a customized fundraising page for their medical billing accounts that can be linked to their social network and email list.

Passport also announced its new Pre-Service Clearance Center, which delivers centralized outsourced services for the entire access process.

With the growth in Accountable Care Organizations, the “front end” of patient care and the ability to determine eligibility and the appropriate care site to assume responsibility for the patient’s care will become increasingly important. MacKenzie stated, “With our new Pre-Service Clearance Center, we are using our team of industry experts to help providers overcome the challenges of patient access and help them significantly reduce their costs.”
