Online Tech's Rapid Growth Continues; Headquarters Expands on Strong Recruitment

10 additional professional-level positions to be filled in third quarter Ann Arbor, Michigan – August 20, 2013 –Online Tech, already the largest secure and compliant data center operator in Michigan, is continuing its recent trend of aggressive growth and has renovated 5,000-square feet of Ann Arbor office space to expand its company headquarters. The Michigan data center operator, which doubled its employee count to nearly 50 over the past 15 months, is looking to fill 10 additional professional-level positions in the third quarter of 2013, and Director of Human Resources, Deb Webster, is busy building a ‘pipeline’ (www.onlinetech.com/careers) section for the company’s website in anticipation of more future growth. To accommodate the additional hires – and bring together teams previously spread around Online Tech’s two Ann Arbor data center locations – the company has doubled its occupancy to 10,000 square feet at the Burlington Office Center on Eisenhower Parkway on the city’s south side. “A lot of our growth is nationally in the healthcare space and retail and financial segments, driven by the compliance that we’re focused on,” said co-CEO Mike Klein. “Our theme of compliance and mission critical applications has taken a toehold not only in Michigan, where we currently have a physical presence, but across the country, where there are not a lot of cloud providers that have been through a full HIPAA and PCI audit. We have, and that has driven a lot of attention and a lot of growth.” That growth will soon continue outside of the State of Michigan. Online Tech got a boost to its steady growth (averaging more than 30 percent annual growth since 2003) when News-Press & Gazette Company invested $20 million to help it expand into new markets in the Midwest. There are plans to open new data centers over the next 24 months, joining the company’s two facilities in Ann Arbor and one near Flint. The company’s headquarters will remain in Ann Arbor, where Oxford Property Management Company used tenant improvement dollars to expand and renovate office space at 305 East Eisenhower. Part of the negotiation with Oxford included an agreement for Online Tech to take possession of the entire third floor of the Class A office space (13,000 square feet) in coming years. “There are open work areas and lots of collaborative workspace. We really have a facility that supports our culture and business mission,” said Webster, noting most walls left standing are covered in IdeaPaint, which transforms them into a dry-erase surface to facilitate brainstorming and sharing ideas. “We really incorporated our culture of collaboration in the renovation.” The increased space allowed Online Tech to bring its marketing and product development teams under one roof with the sales team, admin staff, and corporate staff, and allows for continued growth. New positions have been posted (onlinetech.com/company/careers) seeking experienced business development, sales and IT professionals to join the customer-focused high tech company. Currently, Online Tech is hiring for Network and Software Engineers, System Administrators for Linux and Windows, and a Senior Infrastructure Engineer. “We’re looking for life-long learners who stay abreast of this rapidly-changing field, and who want to be part of something special,” Webster said. All positions require a Baccalaureate degree and between three and 10 years of professional experience.
