ONC names new head for Consumer e-Health program

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT announced on Thursday that Lana Moriarty will serve as the agency's Acting Director for Consumer e-Health. Moriarty--who had been working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration managing part of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) and the NURSE Corps programs--replaces Lygeia Ricciardi, who departed ONC in July.

Moriarty also worked with the World Bank Group as a gender specialist, and as a Peace Corps volunteer in the West African nations of Benin and Tongo.

"Lana's commitment and impact on addressing gender issues while working with the World Bank and her connection to NHSC clinicians providing access to the nation's underserved communities will help us here at ONC as we move forward with the goal of increasing consumer engagement and fostering stronger patient/provider partnerships," an email to ONC staffers sent to FierceHealthIT said.
