NIST to release new standards for hospitals to increase cybersecurity

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is looking to deliver new guidance on healthcare cybersecurity to help providers become more resistant to breaches, more effective at mitigating damage that hackers might inflict and better at recovering after an attack, Healthcare IT News reports.

NIST fellow Ronald Ross says in the article that the guidance will include best practices for building software and systems that are secure and trustworthy. In December, NIST asked for comments on its cybersecurity framework; both the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and HIMSS praised the framework, but said it needs to be more detailed and should be continually updated. Article
