MTBC Client Implements Electronic Health Record Software and Receives $42,500 Medicaid Incentive

SOMERSET, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MTBC announced today that its client, East Mississippi Medical Clinic of Meridian, MS, has secured the maximum Medicaid incentive of $21,250 per healthcare provider for using a certified electronic health record (EHR) software. The practice has been using MTBC’s ChartsPro™, for over one year to improve office efficiency and quality of care.

“Implementing MTBC’s electronic health record in our office was a natural choice,” said Razee Ahmad, MD of East Mississippi Medical Clinic. “MTBC has created an integrated system which allows me to quickly and easily create patient records and document patient visits. Meeting meaningful use was easy because MTBC assigned me a Meaningful Use Coach who helped me with each step of the attestation process.”

Dr. Ahmad, an internist, and Dawn Kiker, a family health nurse practitioner, have now joined the list of providers that have excelled in the utilization of EHRs to improve the quality, safety and effectiveness of patient-centered care. David Rosenblum, president of MTBC, commented that “It is a testament to the quality of healthcare being provided at East Mississippi Medical Clinic that they have managed to reach the standards established by CMS in such a short time. We are proud that they have chosen MTBC’s ChartsPro™ as their software of choice to meet meaningful use.”

In an effort to reduce expenditures and improve healthcare quality, the 2009 HITECH Act provided $19.2 billion in federal incentives, thereby accelerating the adoption of EHRs by doctors across the nation. The Act states that over a five-year span, providers may receive up to $44,000 from Medicare or $63,750 from Medicaid depending on their eligibility for each respective program.
