The10 Annual today announced that Scott Blanchette, Senior Vice President of IT Services at Vanguard Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: VHS) is the recipient of the prestigious MIT Sloan CIO Symposium 2013 CIO Leadership Award.

“The MIT Sloan CIO Symposium Awards Committee is proud to present Scott Blanchette with the 2013 CIO Leadership Award,” said Dr. George Westerman of MIT’s Center for Digital Business, Co-Chair of the Award Program. “Scott distinguished himself from a very strong group of finalists by his exceptional leadership and vision, and his stewardship over a wide range of achievements, from the IT back office to new IT-driven businesses, to improve the speed and quality of health and health care services.”

Mr. Blanchette is currently corporate Senior Vice President of Information & Technology Services at Vanguard Health Systems, a health and health care services delivery company with $7 billion in annual revenue. Concurrently, he also serves as President of Hangar9 Solutions, an IT services company that provides infrastructure and computing services to small and mid-sized healthcare entities.

At Vanguard, Mr. Blanchette is responsible for the delivery of services to a diverse portfolio of health and health care-related organizations, including more than 28 hospitals, five health plans, three lab companies, more than 1,000 clinics, ambulatory surgical centers, home health, imaging, life flight, emergency and critical care companies, and a number of health care educational institutions and programs.

Dr. George Westerman, MIT Sloan, presented the award to Blanchette at the pre-Symposium dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston on May 21st. Other finalists for the honor included Cynthia Nustad of HMS (NASDAQ: HMSY), Michael Relich of Guess, Inc. (NYSE: GES), and Kimberly Stevenson of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC).
