The CareLink™ Mobile Application Offers Direct Mobile Access to Data on the Medtronic CareLink® Network
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Medtronic, Inc. (NYSE: MDT) today announced the launch of Medtronic's first mobile application for use with implantable cardiac devices. As health care shifts care delivery from outpatient to home, Medtronic is leading the implantable cardiac device industry by offering cutting-edge technology designed to give physicians greater flexibility in monitoring patient data.
The CareLink™ Mobile Application allows clinicians to access cardiac device diagnostic and patient data directly from their mobile devices.* This mobile application provides a new access point for the same data found on the CareLink® Network today. This new application allows clinicians to review Medtronic CareAlert® transmissions and a patient’s last transmission anytime, anywhere. Clinicians can then triage clinical events and take action as needed.**
“As a physician, the convenient mobile application gives me a new way to access the important patient data that I have come to rely on from the CareLink Network,” said Suneet Mittal, M.D., director of electrophysiology, St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. “Using this new application I can more easily download CareLink information to a smart phone or view this information on my iPad, helping me to respond quicker to clinical events and provide more proactive patient care, which, as a health care provider, is my ultimate goal.”
The CareLink Network is the industry’s leading remote monitoring system that provides comprehensive data received from the remote monitoring of patients implanted with Medtronic cardiac devices. The CareLink Network provides similar in-depth device information as an office visit for Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICDs) and Implantable Cardiac Monitors (ICMs) while providing both health care providers and patients the convenience of telemedicine. With access to alert transmissions via the CareLink Mobile Application, health care providers can now manage their patients anytime and anywhere.
“Medtronic is committed to advancing the continuum of patient care by introducing tools that help physicians deliver positive patient outcomes through earlier intervention,” said Pat Mackin, president of the Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management business and senior vice president at Medtronic. “Our CONNECT study demonstrated the patient and physician benefit from remote monitoring, including reduced time to diagnosis, shorter hospital stays and decreased costs per hospitalization. By helping physicians access patient device diagnostic data in easy-to-use ways, Medtronic is transforming the way they care for their cardiac patients.”
Medtronic, Inc. (www.medtronic.com), headquartered in Minneapolis, is the global leader in medical technology – alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life for millions of people around the world.
