Manatt’s National Healthcare Practice Continues Dynamic Expansion

Eric Bartholet Adds Deep Health IT Strategy and Academic Medical Center Experience to Growing National Health Solutions Team

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, announced that Eric Bartholet has joined the New York office of the firm as a managing director with Manatt Health Solutions (MHS), the firm’s interdisciplinary policy and business advisory division. Bartholet comes to MHS from Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) Global Healthcare Solutions, where he was a partner in the Health Delivery Planning and Operations Group and specialized in IT strategy, planning and organizational design.

Bartholet has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, working primarily with large academic medical centers. As a partner in CSC’s Global Healthcare Solutions group, he developed and led CSC’s services for “meaningful use,” a set of CMS requirements that providers must meet through the use of certified electronic health records in order to qualify for Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments. Bartholet also helped lead CSC’s healthcare IT strategic planning services and spearheaded the development of CSC’s academic medical center IT integration solutions.

“Eric’s expansive understanding of meaningful use and his groundbreaking work with academic medical center IT integration services fill an extremely important role as we rise to meet the requirements of healthcare reform,” said William Bernstein, chair of Manatt’s Healthcare Division. “As the healthcare landscape shifts, Eric offers unique insight into integrating IT across clinical, research and education mission areas, with a focus on organizational structure, process integration and governance. He is a welcome addition to our strong MHS team.”

Bartholet adds to an impressive roster of five recent and strategic additions to Manatt’s healthcare practice: prominent healthcare strategist Thomas Enders as managing director in New York; high-profile healthcare transactional partner Debra Alligood White in Washington, D.C.; Stephanie Kanwit, also in Washington, D.C., who most recently served as special counsel to America’s Health Insurance Plans; Deborah Bachrach, the former New York State Medicaid director and deputy commissioner of health, in the firm’s New York office; and Jonah Frohlich, in San Francisco, who previously served as deputy secretary of health information technology at the California Health and Human Services Agency.

“Manatt has a powerful and unique national platform across all areas of healthcare reform implementation. I am fortunate to have found an organization that values the IT and operational aspects of healthcare reform as much as it focuses on the governance and regulatory issues. Manatt’s comprehensive approach is the most effective way to create workable solutions and help clients take advantage of the opportunities associated with the rapid changes occurring in our industry,” Bartholet said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues at Manatt to tackle the complex challenges ahead in the healthcare marketplace.”

Bartholet earned a B.A. from the University of Colorado.
