Investment bank: Healthcare may be Google's next multi-billion dollar business

A little more than a year after Google's co-founders said the tech giant would not become a healthcare company, one investment bank says the company's healthcare ventures could create its next multi-billion dollar business.

As Google moves into its next big phase--creating a holding company under the name Alphabet--the "significant unlocked value" of its healthcare efforts will become clearer, Cowen and Company wrote in a research note, according to Re/code.

"A closer look at Google's vast healthcare efforts reveals that the company is targeting very large markets with an expansive list of projects that with even minor success could justify the company's recent investments," the report notes. Article
