Part of the role of chief technology officer at the Department of Health and Human Services, Susannah Fox says, is to be an ambassador outside of the tech community.
Fox tells The Washington Post that she is working to reach out to government agencies, such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to figure out how data can improve care and enhance the national disease surveillance system.
In addition, she says she is working to ensure patients are more empowered when it comes to their own health, working with the National Institutes of Health and the National Library of Medicine to improve access to medical journal articles and industry information. Article
