Hackers hit vendor of Patient Treatment Centers of America, gain access to data for 19K patients

A hacker hit data servers run by a vendor used by Patient Treatment Centers of America (PTCOA) and Interventional Surgery Institute (ISI), accessing records of patients at the healthcare facilities, according to a HIPAA security notice.

Files of more than 19,000 patients were being stored by the vendor, Bizmatics, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights' data breach portal. The vendor owns an electronic health record and practice management tool called PrognoCIS, which stores patient files that have information such as health visit details, names, addresses, health insurance data and more.

PTCOA and ISI are offering free one-year credit of identity protection support to impacted patients. Notice
