Government agencies team up on heart disease awareness through social media effort

Three government groups are teaming up to raise awareness of risk factors that lead to heart disease during American Heart Month.

Throughout February, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health will turn to social media in their awareness efforts., Jonca Bull, M.D., FDA's Assistant Commissioner for Minority Health, writes at FDAVoice.

The initiative will include sharing messages on Twitter and Facebook to create dialogue around understanding risk factors and managing them. In addition, they have created a toolkit (which can be obtained by emailing [email protected]) that will have example special media messages, infographics and links.
