Fred Mingo picked to oversee VistA improvements

Fred Mingo, a former Navy officer, is the Department of Veterans Affairs' pick to oversee improvement of the VistA electronic health record system, according to HIT Consultant.

As the deputy program executive for VistA Evolution, Mingo will be responsible for a program with a chief goal of creating interoperability between the Department of Defense and other healthcare groups.

Mingo will have his work cut out for him. The lack of interoperability, especially between the VA and DoD, has been much maligned by government officials, with lawmakers last week grilling agency officials about the issue. Article
