FierceMedicalImaging: Our final issue

A little more than two years after publishing our first issue, this week's issue of FierceMedicalImaging will be the last.

Since September 2012, we've provided you with comprehensive coverage of the medical imaging and radiology industry. And what a two years it has been.

In the area of breast imaging, for example, we've covered what appears to be an endless debate about the benefits and harms of mammography. And with the development of new modalities like tomosynthesis, we can expect to see more of the same back-and-forth going forward.

We also covered the decision last year by the United States Preventive Services Task Force to recommend low dose CT lung cancer screening, as well as the recent decision by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to cover it, both of which promise to be a game changers for lung cancer. If screening of individuals at risk for lung cancer is as effective as predicted by medical professionals, it will end up saving thousands of lives every year.

Additionally, over the last two years we've extensively written about reimbursement reductions and a less than robust job market, issues that continue to plague the specialty.

The good news is that current FierceMedicalImaging subscribers will be able to read medical imaging and radiology news via an automatic subscription to FiercePracticeManagement or FierceHealthIT

Thank you for reading, and  I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a happy and healthy new year. - Mike (@FierceHealthIT)
