FBI investigates surgical tool amid reports it spreads cancer

The FBI is investigating a surgical device most commonly used in hysterectomies after allegations that the device spreads cancer in women.

The tool, a laparoscopic power morcellator, was pulled off the market last year, accoridng to a Wall Street Journal report.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's Newark, New Jersey, office is overseeing the investigation, the WSJ says. However, the report adds, a spokesman for Johnson & Johnson, which manufactures the device, said the company is not aware of the investigation. Article
