Todd Plesko to discuss how unifying healthcare VOIP phones and smartphones improves clinical workflows and patient care

FORT WAYNE, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- EXTENSION, INC. announced today that Chief Executive Officer, Todd Plesko, has been chosen as a program presenter at the upcoming mHealth Summit taking place in Washington, D.C., December 5-7. Mr. Plesko was selected to present on the topic of ‘Achieving Effective Healthcare Communications by Unifying Enterprise Phone Systems with Smartphones.’ EXTENSION will also participate as an exhibitor and will showcase the EXTENSION® Mobile clinical alerting app for enterprise healthcare organizations which integrates with a variety of smartphones and tablets and VOIP telephony systems.

According to Mr. Plesko, “The marriage of smartphones and enterprise phone systems is the most important aspect of selecting a mobile strategy to ensure success and I am excited to share our lessons learned and experiences at the mHealth Summit in December.”

EXTENSION will participate in the session ‘Short-term Strategies for Fragmentation: Overcoming Interoperability Challenges Today.’ EXTENSION is a data aggregator that marries clinical and IT systems and medical devices to generate meaningful alerts, notifications, and messages. Its endpoint-agnostic platform enables EXTENSION to deliver alerts to the appropriate clinician on their preferred communication tool, which includes: Android, Apple, Cisco, and Vocera devices. EXTENSION will announce more endpoints in the coming months.

Mr. Plesko added, “Everyone is very excited about clinicians using smartphones for messaging and alerting. The reality is that there are places in hospitals where smartphones make sense and places where the corporate telephony system makes sense. We support both and unify them to deliver clinical alerts, secure and HIPAA-compliant non-SMS text messaging, and much more.”

Pre-schedule a demonstration or interview with Todd Plesko at the 2011 mHealth Summit in Washington, D.C. at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. EXTENSION will be in booth number 431 on the exhibit floor.

EXTENSION® offers software solutions that facilitate instant communication between patients and clinicians. Our solutions enhance common communication devices used as clinical workflow tools by aggregating data from various HIS/IT systems and delivering time-critical alerts to devices. The results are better patient care, increased satisfaction, and greater return on IT investments.
