, one of the most successful consulting firms in the health-information technology (HIT) industry, today announced the expansion and realignment of its Client Services and business-development organization under new, centralized national leadership. As now reconfigured, Encore Client Services is poised to better serve its steadily growing client base and increasing demands for health analytics by health systems today awash in a sea of disconnected data. The new organization provides additional focus on health analytics and performance improvement to assist health providers struggling to understand relationships between quality, safety, productivity, and cost -- all as the healthcare industry rapidly shifts from volume- to value-based care-delivery and reimbursement models.

Encore has named Steve Eckert its Partner, Client Services, with responsibility for leading the company’s sales and business-development operations nationwide. Eckert formerly led Client Services initiatives as Encore’s Partner, East Region.

“Encore has grown exponentially as a company in revenue, size, and complexity over the past few years, and, as we have expanded, the need for centralized, national leadership of all Client Services activities has become increasingly clear,” said Tom Niehaus, President and Chief Operating Officer, Encore Health Resources. “In his national leadership position, Steve will be responsible for ensuring that our Client Services organization meets and exceeds the evolving needs of our industry and our growing client base, bringing them the wide range of strategy, advisory, implementation, process-redesign, health analytics and performance improvement services that Encore is so proud to offer.”

Replacing Eckert as leader of Encore’s Client Services East is Hamish Stewart-Smith, who brings extensive experience in expanding Encore’s client base throughout the Delaware Valley to his new position. In addition, Encore has named Brian Hayungs as the leader of Client Services West. Hayungs joins Encore as a seasoned HIT executive with 20 years of experience in leadership, business development, and account management roles at Dearborn Advisors, McKesson Provider Technologies, and Baxter Healthcare.

To address increasing demand for its health-analytics services, Encore has also named Marc Gauthier as a Client Services Executive with special focus on analytics and performance improvement. Gauthier formerly worked at Perot Systems and later helped to build Siemens Information and Communications Networks Division’s outsourcing practice. He served in key executive HIT roles with Henry Ford Health System and at ACS, now Xerox. Most recently, Gauthier led patient and population analytics for the Symphony Corporation in Madison.

Also joining Encore’s Client Services East as Client Services Executive is Bill Blewitt, who brings 14 years of sales and business-development experience in the healthcare information technology space focusing on sales of professional services, hardware, software and solutions.

“As our industry rapidly shifts from fee-for-service to fee-for-value in terms of care-delivery and reimbursement models, the importance of leveraging data generated by electronic health records (EHRs) to drive performance improvement is of paramount importance to the future success of any health system,” said Eckert. “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Encore’s Client Services and business-development initiatives, which we have realigned with a laser focus on the challenges and demands posed by a new world of healthcare -- one in which our clients must now survive, perform, and excel through the power of information.”
