EHNAC Announces First Accreditations for MSOAP and HNAP-70

D’Souza & Associates, Inc. is first to achieve accreditation for two of EHNAC’s newest accreditation programs

FARMINGTON, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body, announced today that it has accredited the first organization under two of its newest programs: Management Service Organization Accreditation Program (MSOAP) and Healthcare Network Accreditation Plus Select SAS 70©1 Program (HNAP-70). D’Souza & Associates, Inc., a comprehensive practice management firm, achieved full accreditation and is recognized as adhering to strict health information technology (HIT) and transactions, and ensuring compliance with industry-established standards and HIPAA regulations.

“There’s an increased awareness across the entire industry to ensure organizations adhere to the strictest of HIT policies when it comes to the privacy and security of protected health information,” states Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC. “We’ve seen a significant interest in accreditation—including two of our newest programs. The marketplace has demonstrated the importance of these areas to organizations across the board, and we welcome D’Souza & Associates as the first of these leading organizations.”

To achieve accreditation under EHNAC’s MSOAP and HNAP-70 accreditation programs, D’Souza & Associates exceeded industry-established standard criteria through the completion of a self-assessment and submitting to an EHNAC site review of all data facilities. Areas for evaluation include privacy, security and confidentiality measures, level-of-service and escalation procedures, transaction response times, and systems availability. In addition, EHNAC evaluated D’Souza & Associates in program-specific functions of management service organizations and healthcare networks as it relates to HIT and transactions in all areas where PHI is handled in an ongoing, production basis. Complete criteria specifications for each of the programs are available publicly on EHNAC’s website.

“We set out to achieve accreditation in these EHNAC programs as a demonstration of our dedication to the highest standards in privacy, security and confidentiality in healthcare and ensure our practices were at the highest levels of the industry,” says Rohan D’Souza, MBA, senior vice president of D’Souza & Associates. “Being the first organization to achieve each of these accreditations allows us to set the standard for our industry and stand apart from others in that we have the third-party verification of our commitment to data security.”
