(SMS), a leading provider of IT systems and services to support critical architecture, data and application challenges in the healthcare industry, today announced its contract award with the (VA) (OIT) Product Development organization to further automate and streamline veterans claims processing. The Benefits Product Support Portfolio (BPSP) project will sustain VA applications that support claims processing for compensation and pension, vocational rehabilitation and employment, educational benefits payment and tracking, life insurance, death benefits, and National Cemetery Administration programs.

The OIT provides efficient information technology services to VA point-of-care facilities and throughout each step of a veteran’s treatment. The VA Product Development (PD) organization generates secure, reliable and well-designed enterprise application software and services to serve veterans and assist VA in achieving its goals.

Within the BPSP task order, SMS will provide options for system and data migration, Section 508 conformance remediation, product transition and moving appropriate legacy systems to cloud-based applications. The BPSP contract has an initial performance period of 12 months with two additional 12 month options for a total award amount of $15 million over three years.
