The combination of social media and mobile devices makes it virtually impossible for a high-profile healthcare organization to hide a negative experience, writes Raymond Hino, CEO at Mendocino Coast District Hospital in California. "I have found that transparency is the best policy," he writes in a Hospital Impact post.
The journey into transparency began via a weekly email update, but later morphed into a blog hosted on the hospital's site. The posts are usually good news, writes Hino. "But earlier this year I found myself using the blog as a way to get critical information out to our employees and the public during a time of crisis."
